Does my travel insurance cover me in the event of a strike or industrial action?

If there’s a strike or industrial action affecting your outbound or return journey to the UK, you’re covered under the Travel Delay, Missed Connection and Abandonment section of your policy wording, if the delay goes on for more than 12 hours, provided that when the policy was purchased (or when the trip was booked – whichever is the later) there was no reasonable expectation that this would affect your trip.

If the delay continues for more than 12 hours on your outbound flight, sea crossing, coach or train departure, you can abandon your trip and claim under the Travel Delay, Missed Connection and Abandonment section of your policy (an excess is applicable – see your policy schedule for details of the maximum policy benefit and excess amount). Full terms and condition can be found in the policy wording document here.
